The music of Ireland meets the music of an African-American string band. High Roads and Railroads is a combination of Ireland’s Teada and one of the last black string bands in the U.S., The Ebony Hillbillies. During the early American experience, both musical traditions borrowed heavily from one another. The banjo, having its origin in West Africa, added its rhythmic sound to the Irish fiddler’s lines. These common roots and experiences will be explored musically as these two great traditions come together for an evening of music and dance from Africa, America and Ireland.
