2013 Festival Showcase: Nova Scotia

Music is an integral part of Nova Scotia's cultural life.  The province is best known for its folk and traditional based music, especially the music of Ireland and Scotland which are considered part of Nova Scotia's founding cultures. Cape Breton Island is the heart of Celtic music and dance and has a strong fiddle, piping and dance tradition.  Cape Breton artists as well as artists from around the province are now well established at Irish and Celtic festivals across North America.  The two previous showcase, in 2006 and 2009 were very popular with festival patrons, incorporating not only music and dance but crafts, cultural exhibits and tourism promotion.  The 2013 Nova Scotia Showcase, will be the third showcase presented in partnership with Music Nova Scotia and the Ministry of Communities, Heritage and Culture of Nova Scotia.  Nine different artists from Nova Scotia will participate in the 2013 showcase.
