Applications for the Volunteer Academic Scholarship Is Open

Irish Festivals, Inc. has established scholarships for Irish Fest volunteers beginning in 2002. Up to four $2,000 post-secondary scholarships will be awarded each year to deserving volunteers who meet the criteria outlined below. The scholarships were established as both a reward and an incentive for individuals who give significant time and effort as volunteers for the organization or the festival. They also are inteded to assist in developing the potential of future leaders of Irish Fest.

MEET THE 2009 WINNERS

2009 Scholarship Winners


Kelly Quinlan

has volunteered at Irish Fest for 10 years. She is a graduate of Thomas Moore High School. Presently attending Winona State University, majoring in special education/early childhood. Kelly is very involved in volunteering out side of Irish Fest to name a few, Kids First-after school program, Big Brother-Big Sister, Habitat for Humanity, Adopt a Block and many more. Kelly is a good leader who enjoys the time she spends helping others.

Thomas Duffey
has volunteered at irish Fest for 9 years. He is a graduate of Marquette High School. Presently attending Marquette University with a major in human biology (DPT). He is also involved in many other volunteer organizations such as Milwaukee Rescue Mission, Special Olympics, Children's Service Society of WI., Hunger Clean Up. Tom is seen as a leader and respected by adults and his peers.

Sheila Hamill
has volunteered at Irish Fest for 12 years. She is a graduate of Brookfield Central High School. Presently she has transferred from the Unversity of Wisconsin Eau Claire to Milwaukee. Her major is communication sciences and disorders. Outside Irish Fest she is involved in Midwest Leadership Program, St. Mary's Youth Ministry, Residence Hall Council just to name a few. This is the second year as a scholarship awardee and she continues to show strong leadership abilities in all tasks she takes on.

Robert Hamill
has volunteered for 15 years. Is a graduate of Brookfield Central High school. He is presently attending the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. His present major is Political Science/Spanish. This is Bob's second year as a scholarship awardee and he continues to develop as a leader. He is very involved in the student senate, UWEC College Republicans, Boy Scouts of America, Young America's Foundation (intern) to name a few. He has an exceptional ability to coordinate his efforts and lead others.

Madeline Kelley
has been involved in Irish Fest for 12 years. She is a graduate of Shorewood High School. She is presently attending the University of Notre Dame pursuing a degree in Political Science/Business. Outside of Irish Fest she is involved in the National Honor Society, Chamber Orchestra, dorm service projects to name a few. Madeline has consistently demonstrated initiative, high quality work and common sense.
