
From:IrelandThe Irish World Academy @ Milwaukee Irish Fest Student Awards offers two traditional musicians registered at the Irish World Academy the opportunity to travel to take part in Milwaukee Irish Fest and the Milwaukee Irish Fest Summer School.
Gráinne Fitzgibbon is a performer and teacher of the harp from Banogue Co. Limerick. She grew up surrounded by music as her mother taught traditional music to children across Limerick. She is twice All- Ireland harp champion on the harp, winning the 15-18 title in 2012 and the senior title in 2015. She has toured with Comhaltas across Ireland, Britain, and Canada. She worked professionally as a harpist at Bunratty castle for 4 years, from 2016-2019.
Grace Galligan is a performer and teacher of the Uilleann pipes, tin whistle and flute. Born in Dun Laoghaire, she is currently studying in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick, on the course for Master of Arts in Irish Traditional Music Performance. Her primary instrument is the uilleann pipes and second instrument is the piano.
