Turner is one of the most well-known Celtic harpers in the Upper Midwest/Great Lakes region. He plays music from the traditions of the seven Celtic nations. Growing up in the Missouri Ozarks, mountain music frew him in, much of it from Scotland and Ireland. Following the old way Turner learned by ear, first ballads and traditional songs and later he taught himself several instruments.
In addition to the Irish harp, he also performs on the button accordion, the bodhran, bombarde, bouzouki and the tin whistle.
