Julianne Stanz


Julianne Stanz is a story teller, retreat leader, poet and author originally from County Carlow, now living on the shores of Lake Michigan. She punctuates her talks, seminars, retreats and classes with Irish wit, humor and occasionally a hefty dose of blarney! She works for the Diocese of Green Bay as Director of Discipleship and Leadership Development. She is married with three children and combs the beaches of Lake Michigan for sea glass and obscure forgotten treasures.

Hedge School Presentation: The Prayers, Blessings, Toasts and Poems of Ireland
There is a lovely expression in Irish coined by the Irish teacher, barrister, author and political activist Pádraig Pearse which says 'Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam” which means “A country without a language is a country without a soul”. The Irish have a long tradition of oral story telling through poems, blessings, toasts and prayers. Come and learn about some of its most famous with Julianne Stanz, story teller and “seanachai” or which means bearer of “old lore”.
