Aodán ‘Jaff’ Mac Séafraidh and Jacaí Mhic Shéafraidh perform as An Dúthracht (The Luck Penny).
Jaff is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and singer, playing Uilleann pipes, bouzouki and whistles. He is also a talented storyteller. Jaff lived in Australia for a number of years and during his time there played with several headlining traditional bands at the Woodford Folk Festival and National Folk Festival in Canberra. Jaff is an Irish Language activist and teacher and is currently working with Turas, a cross-community Irish Language project based in East Belfast.
Jacaí is primarily a singer of traditional songs and she also plays the concertina. Prior to moving to Ireland, Jacaí performed at Scottish festivals and sessions and was a regular on the Burns circuit. She has performed for organisations such as the Scottish Whisky Heritage Society and Visit Scotland as well as the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Jacaí is currently a student of Gaelic Languages.
