
Archbishop Thaddeus Jude Okolo has been the Papal Nuncio to Ireland since 2017-2022. He was appointed to this position by Pope Francis. He has worked in the diplomatic corps of the Holy See since 1990, working in Sri Lanka, Haiti, the Antillean Islands and other Caribbean Island nations, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Australia and Ireland. He was appointed the Papal Nuncio to the Czech Republic in May 2022.
Archbishop Okolo was born in Kano Nigeria, in 1956, was ordained a priest in 1983 and in 2008 he was appointed an Archbishop. Archbishop Okolo has a doctorate in Canon Law and a Diploma in Diplomatic Studies. In addition to his native Igbo (and Hausa spoken where he was born), Archbishop Okolo is fluent in English, French, Italian, Spanish and German, and can speak and understand Czech. Archbishop Okolo has been a priest for over 39 years.
