Dubliner Pat Broaders began singing with his Wexford-born father and took up the bouzouki soon after, inspired by the sounds of groundbreaking bands like Planxty and Bothy Band. Pat’s repertoire today reflects his interest in the great songs of the Irish tradition, as well as ballads from England, Scotland, and America. Kieran O’Hare is a highly respected and sought-after performer of traditional Irish music on the uilleann pipes, concert flute, and tin whistle. He learned the tradition of uilleann piping from master pipers in Ireland and continues to preserve, share, and pass it on in his teaching and performance. Together, Kieran and Pat are mainstays of the Irish music scene around the world and are currently members of the acclaimed trio Open the Door for Three. The soul of Pat's and Kieran’s music is filled with connections: to people and places, to teachers and heritage and audience, and to the stories and traditions that bring us all together. Their music is a rare combination of unearthed tunes from centuries-old collections, newly composed melodies, fresh arrangements of songs old and new, homages to the musicians and bands they grew up listening to, and the unmatched energy of two good friends playing great Irish traditional music together.
