Sean Farrell is a Board of Trustees Professor of History at Northern Illinois University. A former president of the American Conference for Irish Studies, he is the author of numerous books and articles on nineteenth-century Ireland, including The Irish in Illinois (co-authored with Mathieu Billings) and Thomas Drew and the Making of Victorian Belfast. He is currently working on a book on public health and urban development in Victorian Belfast.
