About The Irish Gothic, Then and Now

The Irish Gothic, Then and Now

Music Icon

Gothic Literature helps all cultures meet and manage their social fears, but the Irish have proved particularly gifted at this mode of writing. In recent centuries, their high-water mark was Bram Stoker’s Dracula; however, the Gothic frequently appears in Irish short stories, such that it has become a defining element of that form. Join us for a review of the Irish Gothic, beginning with Dracula and ending with a glimpse of this tradition in contemporary Irish short stories.
