Dr. Damian Shiels is an Irish historian and archaeologist. Formerly a curator at the National Museum of Ireland, he specializes in Irish battlefield and conflict archaeology and the history of Irish America. He is the author of a number of books and papers on both topics; his latest is Green & Blue: Irish Americans in the Union Military, 1861-1865 (LSU Press, 2025). Together with Fin Dwyer, he is the co-host of Transatlantic: An Irish American History Podcast
