Since 1990 Turner has one of the most well-known Celtic harpers in the Upper Midwest/Great Lakes region. He plays music from the traditions of the seven Celtic nations. Growing up in the Missouri Ozarks, mountain music drew him in, much of it from Scotland and Ireland. Following the old way Turner learned by ear, first traditional songs then several 'old-fashioned' instruments. "My teachers, Julie Henigan, Lee Worman and Drew Holt were my role models and much respectis due to them!"
In addition to the Irish harp he performs on the button accordion, bodhran, the Breton bombarde, bouzouki and the tin whistle.
